Medical vs. Non-medical PT pay
by Sandy Schall, PT
I am a licensed PT in California, and own my own private practice. I did a short stint with a VNA several years ago, so I have some experience in medical home health. I was approached by a home health care agency (non medical currently, but trying to become so)looking to find contract PT's to start with "non-medical" (non insurance reimbursable) home visits, then be on board when they become "medical" certified. I am familiar with treating, documentation, etc, but not the billing/reimbursement aspect. I am looking for information about average cost per home care PT visit for non-medical, as well as insurance reimbursement rates for medical home health PT. I understand about the 60 day lump sum scenario, but need some guidance to determine what to charge the agency for my services in both scenarios (medical and non medical). I still am on the fence about jumping on board with them at present, as I know how difficult medical home care can be. Any info or links would be helpful. Click here to read or post comments
