Full Time vs. PRN vs. 1099 pay

by John
(Dupage County, IL)

John's Submission:

A home health P.T. should get merit increases based on patient satisfaction, and get incentive pay for traveling in high crime neighborhoods.

I get paid $60.00 per visit at my FT home health job, with benefits. I have PRN work that pays me as much as $75.00 per visit as a W-2 employee, and $85.00 per visit as a 1099 employee.

Marcia's Comments:

John offers some negotiation advice here. High crime neighborhoods are scary places! I've had a gun in my face once in my 15+ years!

Higher rates should also reflect your employment status as John states.

Cash physical therapists are becoming more popular as PT's move away from the rushed model of productivity pressure to running their own show.

More and more patients are seeking cash pay PT's out as the word about their high quality care gets around! Many have learned the hard way that there are a few Home Health Lemons around.

Private Pay PT's can also advertise on our website.
